Dicaeopolis
I am a philosophy professor who specializes in ancient Greco-Roman philosophy and ethical theory. In addition to offering courses in these areas, I frequently teach Introduction to Philosophy classes as well as classes in Social and Political philosophy.
Usually when I tell people that I teach philosophy, they tell me about a college philosophy course they took twenty years ago and hated. I'm hoping that some of my hubs might bring people back to philosophy, even if there first experience was a bad one. I have a lot of interest in making philosophy and philosophical inquiry accessible to people who are not trained as philosophers. My aim is to create some hubs that will be both interesting and will make philosophy accessible to those who might not normally think about it.
In addition to studying philosophy, I enjoy painting (usually acrylic), hiking and camping, cooking, and reading literature and mystery novels.
I earned my PhD in the early 2000's and have won several teaching awards. I live in the Midwest, where I teach at a large public university.
